WOLLANGAMBE RIVER CLEAN-UP UPDATE
Following the environmental incident at Clarence Colliery on 2 July 2015, the clean up of the Wollangambe River (Wollangambe) continues.
Using a number of clean-up methods to remove any coal fines from the Wollangambe, over three kilometres of the riverbed has now benefitted from the clean-up activities. The six in-stream barriers strategically erected in August remain in place to limit any downstream movement of coal fines in the river.
As of the end of October, approximately 130 tonnes of material will have been removed from the Wollangambe. Centennial continues to provide regular reports to the EPA.
The land based clean-up was completed last month and the area rehabilitated.
Centennial is continuing to work co-operatively with all relevant State agencies.
