Support for Peninsula Rural Fire Brigade

Mandalong Mine has long worked with and supported the work of the Peninsula Rural Fire Brigade and so when a need to update the hose winders on the brigade's main bush fire fighting vehicle arose, Mandalong was happy to help by contributing funds to install an electric winder retrofit kit.

"The hose reels are usually rewound manually, which increases pack-up and re-deployment times in the event of an emergency, as well as adding a significant physical requirement to what is already a demanding activity", explained David Lemke Brigade President and Deputy Captain.

"Mandalong Mine is pleased to support the purchase of this equipment, which will increase the efficiency of the brigade and reduce volunteer fatigue, particularly when working in hazardous conditions", said Mandalong Mine Manager John Turner.

"The Peninisula Rural Fire Brigade has had a series of familiarisation visits to the mine's surface as we seek to extend our mutual knowledge. Our contribution supports and reflects the relationship and respect we have for the brigade and the important job they do in our community", John Turner concluded.
