Centennial’s Mandalong Mine has a new award to add to its trophy cabinet with Mine Manager, John Turner, winning the ‘Mine Manager of the Year’ award at the coal industry’s night of nights - The Australian Mining Prospect Awards.
The award’s night draws together the industry's best to celebrate achievements and to reward excellence in the Australian mining industry. As Mine Manager of the Year, John demonstrated that he leads by example, places an exceptionally high value on safe and sustainable work practices, and continually strives to improve Mandalong.
“Whilst I was very proud to accept the reward, the positive comments from my colleagues over the last few days have meant even more to me,” said Mandalong Mine Manager, John Turner.
“This award is, to a certain degree, a reflection of the high level of performance we have achieved at Mandalong, and this performance would not have been possible without the support I have received from our Company, and from my management team at Mandalong,” said John.
The award category of ‘Mine Manager of the Year’ saw stiff competition with John taking home the title out of a field of five strong nominees.
“Mandalong will continue to strive for improved performance in key areas, with a strong focus on decreasing our cost of mining and we will be working hard to keep Mandalong a safe and productive mine,” concluded John.
