The year’s Biggest Morning Tea saw Centennial’s Western Operations and regional office raise over $7500 towards one of the Cancer Council’s most popular fundraising events.

As a break from the traditional forum of Community Consultation Committee (CCC) meetings, the Angus Place and Springvale Combined CCC recently visited the local Mines Rescue Station in Lithgow.

Medical students from the University of Notre Dame (UND) have been touring Centennial’s western operations to gain firsthand knowledge of the working life of miners as well as the occupational health matters associated with mining.

Centennial’s Sporting Sponsorship Program is well and truly underway with the summer sports coming to a close and the winter sports preparing for an action packed season.

Over the past two and a half years, Centennial Coal has been investing in new technology to lower its emissions from the use of diesel powered mining equipment.

For the past ten years Centennial’s Western based operations have held an annual ‘Centennial West Charity Golf Day,’ to raise much needed funds for local Lithgow charities.

Using over 5,000 tonnes of steel, Springvale’s new Longwall Mining System stretches over 251 metres long and has taken over 18 months to manufacture.

 In 2010, Centennial’s Mandalong mine joined forces with Ecobiological, an ecological consultancy, to develop a comprehensive research program to better understand the use of nesting boxes.

 

 

For the past seven years Centennial has partnered with the local Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise to support Paddlfes, an annual charity event.

Paddlefest is an action packed day, with a range of boating competitions taking place along the shores of Lake Macquarie’s Speers Point Park to raise money for a range of local charities.
